Understanding Email Metrics and Statuses
Learn how Church Space tracks your email performance and what each metric and status means.
Church Space tracks your email performance in real-time, helping you understand how your audience is engaging with each message.
When Metrics Update
Email metrics are refreshed every 5 minutes.
- When you first send an email, you may see a lot of zeroes. That’s normal.
- Give it a few minutes for recipients to open, click, or respond, and for Church Space to fetch the latest data.
Available Metrics
You’ll see a summary of the following stats for each email:
Open Rate
The percentage of recipients who opened the email.
Tracked using a small invisible pixel loaded when the email is viewed.
Keep in mind that open rates can be inflated or blocked by privacy features (like Apple Mail Privacy Protection).
Unsubscribe Rate
The percentage of recipients who clicked unsubscribe or updated their preferences to stop receiving emails from this category.
Bounce Rate
The percentage of emails that could not be delivered.
This could be due to invalid addresses, full inboxes, or spam filters.
Complaint Rate
The percentage of recipients who reported your email as spam.
High complaint rates can damage your sender reputation.
Link Click Tracking
You’ll also see:
- Total link clicks (all clicks across all links in the email)
- A link click breakdown table showing:
- Each link
- The percentage of total clicks it received
- The total number of clicks for that link
Recipient Status Table
Each recipient in your email has a status that shows how their email performed.
You can view this in the Total Recipients table, which includes:
- Name
- Email address
- Delivery status
Possible Statuses
- Sent – The email was successfully handed off to the email provider.
- Delivered – The email was successfully delivered to the recipient’s inbox.
- Opened – The recipient opened the email.
- Bounced – The email could not be delivered (e.g., invalid address).
- Complained – The recipient marked the email as spam.
- Pending – The email is still in the sending queue.
- Did Not Send – The email was skipped due to a sending limit or subscription status.
